PALMYRA, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Two Lake Monticello firefighters had to be treated for heat exhaustion battling a blaze that heavily damaged a neighborhood home. Firefighters were called Monday afternoon to a fire in a home on Haversack Road. They arrived to find heavy flames and had to break windows to vent the intense interior heat and fumes. The fire damaged several rooms and some of the attic and was uninhabitable by the time they extinguished it. The residents are staying with family members.

Crews from Palmyra, Fork Union, and Kents Store assisted Lake Monticello with the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
