CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Leaf collection in the city of Charlottesville has started this week, and Public Works will visit each neighborhood with vacuum trucks three times during the season on a set rotating schedule. City residents should rake their leaves as close to the curbside — or street if there’s no curb — as possible without blocking travel for pedestrians, bikes, or motor vehicles. On-street parking areas can be used for leaves. The leaves will be collected loose… so no bags.

Residents can sign up for text alerts to learn when the vacuum truck is coming to your neighborhood at the number 434-771-0251.

A drop-off location will also be available Saturdays if residents choose to do that.

Leaves are taken to a local farm for composting… and for all the information, click here.
