CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – As the UVA Women’s Soccer team prepares for their season opener this Thursday (08/15), two of its veteran stars have earned preseason honors in a vote by ACC coaches.

Third-year forward Maggie Cagle and fourth-year midfielder Lia Godfrey were both named to the 2024 Preseason ACC All-Conference Team.

Cagle, who led the Cavaliers in assists and was the joint top scorer last season, is looking to build on a strong year that earned her Second Team All-ACC honors in 2023. She started all 17 matches for the Hoos last year.

Godfrey returns to the pitch on Thursday after missing all of last season due to injury. In her last full season in 2022, she was named First Team All-Region and First Team All-ACC. That year, she scored 8 goals, including three match-winners against Xavier, No. 4 Duke, and No. 2 North Carolina.

The 2024 Preseason ACC Women’s Soccer Coaches Poll predicts the Hoos will finish 6th.
