Dorothy Jarrell Shiflett, 84, of Earlysville passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Martha Jefferson Hospital after a brief illness.

Dorothy native to Albemarle County was born on September 2, 1939 to the late Wade and Ruth Jarrell. She graduated from Albemarle High School in 1959. She married the love of her life, Aubrey E. “Gene” Shiflett on July 17, 1970.

Dorothy was a faithful member of Nortonsville Church of God. She loved her church family and they loved her. She enjoyed cooking meals for those in need. She was always happy when she was in her kitchen.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Delmar Jarrell and her sisters, Shirley Marks and Cora Lee Breeden.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Aubrey E. “Gene” Shiflett; her brother, Carl Jarrell; her sister-in-law, Betty Jarrell; her brother-in-laws, Bobby Marks, Vernon Shiflett, Jake Shiflett, Craig Shiflett, and Donald Shiflett. She was also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews.
