Easter Melinda Ellison. Born on December 5, 1935, in Afton, Virginia to Charles Thompson and Mary Thompson departed this life on Thursday, August 1, 2024. She was educated in the Charlottesville, Virginia school system.
After graduation, Easter attended Apex Cosmetology Beauty College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There she became certified as a beautician, where she practiced for 45 years. Easter was an active member of the Philadelphia Urban League. Easter was led by faith and was a committed member of Canaan Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, until she returned to live in Afton Virginia and accepted membership into the Union Baptist Church of Afton Virginia. There she was an active member of the Helping Hand club for many years.
Easter was married to Melvin L. Miller, Sr. Out of this union was born Melinda A. Proctor and Melvin L. Miller, Jr (Annette). After her divorce, Easter met and married Burnice Ellison. From this union was born Chauncey L. Ellison (Marjorie).
Preceding her in death was her father, Charles Thompson; mother, Mary Thompson; her husband Burnice Ellison; her brothers, Charles Hubbard Thompson, and Edward Thompson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, 3 children, 1 Goddaughter, Yvon Hill, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. 1 sister (cousin), Maggie Hartgrove. 2 sisters-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
