PARIS, FRANCE (CVILLE RIGHT NOW): Young Crozet swimming star Thomas Heilmann’s races at the Paris games come to an end this morning. After a disappointing semi-final in the 200-meter butterfly, he finished 18th overall in the preliminaries of the 100-meter butterfly race.
Going into the games, Thomas expressed his confidence in the longer distance version of the race thanks to his performance at the US Olympic Trials, and his excellence in the 200-meter at the High School level.
However, most commentators agree that there is a bright career with many accolades ahead for the high school standout. He broke Michael Phelps butterfly record that the legendary Olympic set at the age of 15 and is expected to contend for a place on Team USA during the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
