CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – First it’s the start of UVA football’s August training camp, then the general student population arriving that makes this an especially busy time of year at UVA Health Orthopedics. UVA Health Orthopedics chair Dr. Bobby Chhabra tells WINA’s Morning News there’s always a lot of injuries… most of them minor and athletes and students can get back into activities.
At training camp, he says many are taking care of football players from injuries last season or during spring practice, and hopefully most will be cleared “by the time we start ramping up next week”. He says it’s a constant communication between treating physicians at UVA Orthopedics and the Virginia Athletics training staff about getting players back safely on the field. He says UVA is served well in that the orthopedic center is only a mile from the practice fields.
