ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Virginia State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Sunday, July 28, at 1:35 a.m. on Route 259 (Mayland Road), a tenth of a mile east of Route 946 (Zirkle Lane).

According to police, 2002 Honda Accord was traveling west on Route 259 at a high rate of speed when it crossed a double solid yellow centerline, ran off the left side of the roadway, and struck an embankment and a fence before overturning.

The driver of the Honda, 17-year-old Gadge M. Crawford of Timberville was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected during the crash.

He died at the scene.

State Police say the crash remains under investigation.
