Paul Norman, 90, of Charlottesville, Va., peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

He was born on January 3, 1934, to the late Reverend William T. and Hilda H. Norman.

He attended the First Assembly of God church.

Paul’s family made Charlottesville their forever home when he was a small child and in later years he made a career in security at Piedmont Virginia Community College spanning multiple decades before his retirement.

Throughout his life Paul enjoyed many hobbies and interests. He was an avid enthusiast of vintage automobiles, especially partial to his “1929 Buick”, which led him on his annual adventures to Hershey Park, Pa. to attend vintage car shows hosted by Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA). Travel would also take him on road trips with his brother Don to their ancestral home of Newfoundland, Canada, to meet distant relatives and explore the Norman family’s heritage, as well as his annual family camping trips to Myrtle Beach SC. His love and fondness for these experiences were evident by his recounting stories to others.

When he wasn’t working or traveling, Paul would keep himself engaged in his other passionate interest of woodworking. He spent countless hours designing and creating woodworking projects from holiday decor to children’s toys, and he had a talent for fixing anything especially automotive, or electrical.

He was preceded in death by his sweet and loving wife, Betty H. Norman; his son, Gregory T. Norman; his son in law, Chris Glass; and his brother, Don Norman.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Susan Glass; his grandson, Christian Glass and his wife Lindsey of Manhattan, Kan.; his grandson, SPC William Glass of Carlisle Barracks, Pa.; his daughter-in-law, Marybeth L. Norman; his granddaughter, Meredith Marie Norman; and his grandson, Andrew Gregory Norman.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charlottesville Albemarle Rescue Squad, 828 McIntire Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22902.

Condolences may be shared with the family on the tribute wall.
