FREDERICKSBURG (WINA) – A poll done by Research America for the University of Mary Washington Center for Leadership and Media Studies shows an evenly-divided electorate deciding November’s legislative elections. Center Director Stephen Farnsworth notes among 771 likely voters who responded… Virginia is back to a purple state after flirting with a period of being blue with 42-percent wanting a Republican majority legislature… and 42-percent wanting Democrats in control.

He says turnout will likely be comparatively low with a President or Governor election on the ballot, so the party that energizes its base to the polls will likely emerge victorious. He says Virginia Republicans, many of whom were disenchanted by Donald Trump on ballot or in leadership, are returning to the fold. Meanwhile, Democrats have a strong issue with abortion rights since the Supreme Court set aside Roe-v-Wade.
