HARRISONBURG (WINA) – A week after sowing good feelings encouraging JMU fans to participate in the UVA commemoration ceremony last Saturday at Scott Stadium, James Madison University Athletics Director Jeff Bourne has written another communication this week… a retirement announcement. Bourne on X writes, “there is much to say, and I’m grateful to have the next few months to say it to each of you… thank you, JMU Nation and our incredible student-athletes and staff”.

“Our family has thoroughly enjoyed calling JMU home.”

In his 25 year tenure, the Dukes — among other accolades — have 3 NCAA championships, 7 national players of the year, 77 conference team championships, and 60 conference regular season titles. He’s also overseen construction of the Atlantic Union Bank Center, and upgrades to Bridgeforth Stadium and the Convocation Center.

He’ll step down as AD in spring of next year.
