ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WINA) – Just as members of the Albemarle County School Board gathered to conduct Thursday night’s regular meeting, members of the Albemarle Education Association (AEA) rallied on the steps in front of the building.
The association has long been pushing for collective bargaining rights, but negotiations ended last week over what the AEA calls the board’s unwillingness to compromise on key terms.
Discussions to pass a collective bargaining resolution began back in February, but ACPS teachers say they’ve been dealing with low pay and poor working conditions for years.
