CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Charlottesville Police say one person is dead and another hurt after shots were fired near Monticello Road and Hinton Avenue in the Belmont neighborhood. Officers were called to the scene around 1:40 Sunday afternoon, and found two victims. One was transported to UVa, and the other once pronounced deceased. Police have detained multiple individuals, and there’s believed to be no active threat.

The incident remains under investigation, and there was an increased police presence into the evening. No further information will be released.
