CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – A second straight day of oppressive heat where, unlike yesterday, we’re not flirting with 100 degrees. Weather forecasters say we’ll hit 100 with a heat advisory in effect from noon to 7pm as the heat index is around 108.
The advisory means drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, staying out of the sun, and checking up on relatives and neighbors.

The National Weather Service advises wearing lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.
When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
