ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WINA) – Albemarle County Public Schools has hit a bump in the road when it comes to bus drivers.

One driver resigned last week. Three trainees, meanwhile, failed to earn a commercial license, according to spokesman Phil Giaramita. While disappointed, he says he’s not surprised.

“It is not uncommon at all for trainees not to complete their training to earn a commercial driver’s license.  We always are cautious as reporting trainees as future drivers until they actually have completed the work and earned their license. ”

Giaramita reports that eight trainees remain, and the district was able to remove more than 300 students from the wait list for bus service, mostly by reconfiguring routes.
