KILL DEVIL HILLS, NC (WINA) – Three are dead and three injured after a 5-bedroom house burned early this (Friday) morning in Kill Devil Hills on the Outer Banks. Firefighters were called around 2:30am to the house in the 1800 block of North Virginia Dare Trail — known as “the beach road” — and got there to find the home fully involved and fire spread to a second home. Nothing could be done for the primary home, but firefighters were able to protect the 2nd home, and a 3rd home that was not touched was evacuated as a precaution.
Rachel Tackett is with the Town of Kill Devil Hills says two adults and a teen were killed, and two adults and a teen injured. The adults were medevaced to Sentara Norfolk General and the teen was treated locally.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
