CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The beans are spilled in a bullet point in the City Manager’s report at Monday night’s City Council meeting, but everything running according to schedule means the Belmont Bridge will be done by the end of the month. Mayor JuanDiego Wade confirming on Morning News the note in the report of a June 28th ribbon-cutting… signaling the end of the project.
There were years of talking about it before, but the project officially kicked off in January 2017, and construction started in July 2021. Mayor Wade lauded the plan and construction crews who were able to build the new bridge is traffic continued to flow on the crossing. The city will send out a release with all the ribbon-cutting details in the near future.
City tax deadline approaching

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Charlottesville Treasurer’s Office would like to remind taxpayers that the 2024 1st-half tax deadline for real estate and personal property taxes is Wednesday, June 5th. Taxes can be paid in-person, by mail, over the phone, or on the City’s website. Taxpayers can view a copy of their bill and pay online using e-check free of charge by going here. Residents who have not received a tax bill yet are asked to contact the City Treasurer’s Office at citytreas@charlottesville.gov or 434-970-3146.
