CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) — Boyd Tinsley, former violinist for the Dave Matthews Band, was arrested following a two-vehicle collision in Albemarle County. The incident occurred near the intersection of Seminole Trail (U.S. 29) and Woodbrook Drive around 5:54 p.m. on Monday.

The Albemarle County Police Department reported that there were no injuries resulting from the crash. Tinsley, who was involved in the accident, was taken into custody under suspicion of DUI and transported to Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail. He is facing charges of allegedly driving under the influence (DUI) and is scheduled for a court appearance on July 1. He has been released on bail.

Tinsley was a member of the Dave Matthews Band from 1992 until 2018. He left the band amid allegations of sexual assault made by a trumpeter from his side project, Crystal Garden. The two parties reached a financial settlement in 2019.

Albemarle County Police Department: “On Monday, June 24, at approximately 5:54 pm, the Albemarle County Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash that had occurred in the area of Seminole Trail (U.S. 29) and Woodbrook Drive. There were no reported injuries as a result of the crash. Based on the result of the investigation, responding officers took one adult male into custody on suspicion of DUI. He was transported to Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.”
